This will be the 5th time Los Ticos have been invited to play in Copa America. Costa Rica's previous best finishes were Quarterfinal exits in 2001 & 2004. Costa Rica has played 4 matches in 2016 2 Friendly's and 2 Concacaf World Cup Qualifiers. The Ticos two Friendly Matches were both against Venezuela a 1-0 away loss in February (2/2/16) and a 2-1 win (5/27/16) in the final tune-up before Copa America begins. Costa Rica's two Concacaf World Cup Qualifiers in 2016 were against Jamaica a 1-1 away draw (3/25/16) and 3-0 Home Win (3/25/16) in March. 

Costa Rica is in Group A and will play Paraguay 6/4, USA 6/7, and Colombia 6/11. Costa Rica are a formidable threat to Group A favorites USA & Colombia. The Ticos are coming off a historic World Cup 2014 that saw them win their Group over England, Uruguay, and Italy on their way to a Quarterfinal place.
