Lou Gehrig played for the New York Yankees for 16 seasons (1923-1939). The Iron Horse held 2 MLB records that took a long time to break. Most Grand Slams 23 broken by Alex Rodriguez and the streak that was thought to be unbreakable, most consecutive games played 2,130 was broken by the Iron Man Cal Ripken Jr. Lou Gehrig's career highlights included 2 AL MVPs, Triple Crown Winner, 6 time World Series Champions, 7 time AL All-Star,  AL Batting Champion, 3 time AL Home Run Leader, 4 time AL RBI Leader. Lou Gehrig voluntarily took himself out of the lineup on May 2, 1939 as he was in the beginning of what is now known as Lou Gehrig's disease.
