Coming out of Martin Luther King High School in Detroit, Michigan, George Gervin went all the way out to California to play for Jerry Tarkanian at Long Beach State. Being homesick, George Gervin did not last the semester and transfered to Eastern Michigan. In his only season at Eastern Michigan, The Iceman averaged 29.5 points. George Gervin had to play in the ABA for 2 seasons before being eligible for the NBA Draft. Gervin would play for the Pontiac Chaparrals of the CBA & the Virginia Squires in the ABA. George Gervin was traded to the San Antonio Spurs in April of 1974. In the summer of 1974 the Phoenix Suns would select George Gervin in the 3rd round of the NBA Draft. The iceman would elect to stay with the Spurs and in 1976 the San Antonio Spurs would join the NBA in the league merger. George Gervin was a 9 time All-Star, 5 time All-NBA First Team, 2 time All-NBA Second Team, 4 time NBA Scoring Champion and is a member of the NBA's 50th Anniversary All-Time Team. George Gervin played 11 seasons for the San Antonio Spurs form 1974-1985 and with the Chicago Bulls from 1985-1986. This George Gervin San Antonio Spurs Pop!
